Housing & Accommodation Program – Queensland (Immediate Launch)

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate genuine housing need through at least one of the following:
- Homeless or living in unsafe/inadequate housing
- Centrelink or Veterans Affairs statements showing low or no income
- Victims of domestic violence or unsafe living conditions
- Families must provide documentation for dependents (birth certificates or healthcare cards)
Additional Rules:
- Applicants cannot have received housing assistance through this program in the last 3 months
- Priority given to families with children, elderly individuals, or people with disabilities
- Special assessment for applicants with substance abuse issues, housing provided in supervised environments where needed
Rates / Housing Support
- Adults: $100/week (cost equivalent applied per housing unit)
- Children (under 12): $50/week
- Families: Calculated as total of adults + children
- Emergency Accommodation: Short-term units available immediately for high-risk individuals/families (2–4 weeks, extendable)
Special Notes:
- Housing for applicants with substance abuse issues may include supervised or restricted units to ensure safety and success
- All housing includes basic furniture, utilities setup, and resident orientation

- Build or refurbish 50–75 housing units
- Provide emergency accommodation for individuals/families in immediate crisis
- Integrate minimal support services (furniture, utilities, orientation)
- Emergency / Rapid Housing Fund: $2M reserved for urgent needs and unforeseen costs
- Year 1 Budget (Queensland): $15M–$18M (inflated for land, construction, staffing, and contingency)
